In 2000, Mata joined Antena 3, where he was in charge of different tasks in the Media area. Between 2000 and 2006 he was the Press Department Manager. In 2007, he was appointed Sub-director of Media, a post which he held until he was appointed Atresmedia’s Director of Corporate Media in April 2010, in charge of all the Firm’s companies and areas of activity (television, radio, cinema, multimedia, advertising sales, etc.).
Prior to this, he worked in different media, mainly specialised in financial news: El Boletín de la tarde (The Afternoon Gazette), Ranking, Nuevo Lunes (New Monday), El siglo (The Century), and for different companies, Ericsson España, among others.
He is also a teacher of corporate media at different universities and business schools and has been awarded, among other, the Talent Prize from the Spanish Television Academy. In 2007, he published his first book: Mauthausen, memorias de un republicano español en el holocausto (Mauthausen, memoires of a Spanish republican during the Holocaust).
