He began his career in journalism at El Correo and worked at Radio Popular. In 1983, he was appointed leading Director of Radio Euskadi. In 1987, he became Programme Director at Euskal Telebista. In 1988, he was appointed News and Sports Director. In 1991, he became Antenna and Programming Director. In 1995, he joined Telecinco as In-house Production Director and in 1998 he was appointed as Director General. In 2000, he left the channel and became Partner-Director of the Árbol Group.

In October 2006, he was appointed Director General of the Atresmedia Corporación’s Television Division until March 2010, when he was appointed Chairman of Atresmedia Cine.

He is a Senior Lecturer at Universidad de Navarra and a teacher at Universidad Villanueva, associated with Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is a member of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and of The European Film Academy.
