The risk of poverty and social exclusion rate in Spain affects 28.3% of boys and girls and makes it difficult for them to access to essential resources and environments for their socialization and comprehensive development. This situation causes them to lose opportunities for participation and mobility in society. For this reason, a group of Atresmedia Volunteers, together with some of their relatives, donated their time and talent during March, April and May, with the aim of providing Fundación Tomillo with three video tales for kids, which will serve as pedagogical tools in the workshops organized for children from 0 to 6 years old. In addition, they also created a tutorial on personal image and job orientation to increase the accessing opportunities to the world of work for young people and adults of Fundación Tomillo.

The amazing results of this project shows us that together, thanks to the teamwork, selfless collaboration, and the union of all our talents, we are capable of doing much more. And, what better way than knowing the experiences of these volunteers to understand what the project really entails?

Nerea participated in personal image and job orientation video, and says that she had been wanting to participate in some activity for a long time and when she got this proposal did not hesitate: “The activity was closely related to my area of knowledge and I thought I could do my bit. The experience has been unbeatable, not only because it is a very beautiful project, but also because I have been able to meet great professionals. Without a doubt I will repeat with volunteering!”.

Ludmila, another volunteer, who helped creating of one of the video tales aimed at working on emotional intelligence with children, comments that as a mother she found it a great idea to join this activity contributing by giving something to other people: «The experience not only enriches you personally, but professionally connects you with other colleagues (even from different locations) and teaches you new skills that perhaps you thought you did not have ”.

Another group formed by Javier, Lary and Cristina, emphasizes that the results of this volunteer project are bidirectional: “The beneficiaries are not only them, but also those who have made those smiles come true. And, what better than to create a story for children from Fundación Tomillo?! We are also very happy with the group that we have formed”.

Finally, Rita, Ana, Hugo, Esther and Luis have been in charge of creating a music video story to bring this concept closer to the little ones so Fundación Tomillo can use it as a workshop for creating instruments with children. “Collaborating on this project has been a very enriching experience. We have worked as a team and we have all contributed the best of each one with confidence and creativity. It has been great to see how the project grew from an idea on paper to an animated story with an excellent result. We have all enjoyed and would participate again in an activity as fun and interesting as this one”.

17 volunteers from 12 different Atresmedia departments within the national territory participated in this project that was carried out completely online.
