This Junior Achievement action, in which students from 89 schools throughout Spain have participated, is part of a collaborative project between companies, schools and social entities, in which Atresmedia collaborates through its Corporate Volunteering, and has the objective of bringing the labour reality of professionals from different sectors closer to students between 15 and 20 years old.

Atresmedia Volunteers who have participated are parto of differents departments of the company: Programming, Legal Advice, Atresadvertising, laSexta News and Equipo de Investigación. The projects they proposed were very different from each other; from a radio and digital advertising campaign, a report creation, rundown creation for a TV program or the study of a real case based on a legal ruling won by Atresmedia.

The project ’Partners for a day’ follows a structure very similar to the one that young people will encounter when entering the world of work. Students register fisrt on the Junior Achievement platform, where they have to complete their CV to be able to participate in the projects created by volunteers from the different companies. Professionals then select from among all their candidates the five profiles that best meet the requirements for the position, as it would happen in a real job offer.

An opportunity to get to know the world of work:

Almost 400 young people applied as candidates for the six projects proposed by Atresmedia volunteers to be part of one of the training groups carried out by company professionals. The iniciative meant a training opportunity for young students through which they were able to learn about the labor reality of the professions in which they are most interested.

Once the groups were created, volunteers and students shared two training sessions where, after introducing themselves and explaining their roles and responsibilities in the company, they presented the young people with a professional challenge that they had to solve.

Marina, a worker in the Legal Department comments that she has children of her own and it seemed "a great idea to bring the day-to-day life of real work closer to young people who are currently choosing subjects that will affect to their professional future." In the first session, she made an introduction to the type of cases that procedural lawyers handle in the company and in the second, they held two mock trials with her work partner Ramón.

On her side, Ainhoa, an employee of the Operations department, explains that she signed up for this volunteering because she believes that "it is essential that young people get in touch with the world of work before deciding their future." "I would have liked very much having contact with professionals to discover other professions or to really know what is done in a certain position," explained.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achivement is a foundation that has worked in Spain for more than 20 years and that is focused on labor, financial and entrepreneurship orientation. Its entrepreneurship programs for young people are based on three pillars: training, producing and competing (at national and European level); and they work from elementary school through college and vocational training. This vision stems from the need for students to work on non-cognitive skills.
