Atresmedia employees and their families turned over this Christmas to help alleviate the loneliness of many elderly people who live in residences in Spain and feel alone, participating in the initiative ‘Una carta para un abuelo’ of the NGO Adopta un Abuelo. Thus, more than 160 Atresmedia Volunteers wrote and sent their messages full of affection to the social entity -even children participated by drawing Christmas cards and greetings-, which were then distributed among the residences.

In Spain, 360,000 elderly people live in residences for the elderly and 60% do not receive visitors. In this context, Adopta un Abuelo set the challenge of sending a letter to each of them and, from the Atresmedia Volunteer Program, more than a hundred volunteers contribute with their letters full of messages of encouragement and joy, even from the distance.

Last year, Adopta un Abuelo distributed more than 150,000 letters in residences, wich proves that the current health situation does not stop solidarity. This year, thanks to the gestures of many volunteers, happiness has also arrived in an envelope!
