Organized by Atresmedia and Cooperación Internacional NGO for eleven years, the ‘Día Solidario de las Empresas’ (DSE, in english: Companies Solidarity Day) has become a reference corporate volunteer event in Spain. This year's edition was held simultaneously in 11 Spanish cities: A Coruña, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Madrid, Seville, Tenerife, Valencia, Valladolid, Vigo and Zaragoza.

The DSE is aimed at promoting corporate volunteering and raising awareness of the real problems of the environment in the business world. The workplace, where so many daily hours are invested, can also be a space to channel the interest of employees to take part in social transformation and strengthen their solidarity concerns.

During the day, volunteers from 47 companies have collaborated in many solidarity activities. Working with fifty social organizations, the more than 1,000 participants have accompanied different vulnerable groups such as homeless, disabled or elderly. They have also been involved in environmental projects and leisure activities with children at risk of social exclusion.

In this sense, two groups of Atresmedia Volunteers have collaborated in two volunteering activities: a visit to the Royal Palace with elderly and a workshop with women with intellectual disabilities, together with the Friends of the Elderly Foundation and the Alas Moratalaz Foundation.

Susana Gato, CSR Responsible at Atresmedia, emphasizes that “in these 11 years, volunteering has been consolidated in our country and there are already many companies that contribute to the positive transformation of our society through its corporate volunteering programs. For those companies that have not yet taken the step, the ‘Día Solidario de las Empresas’ is an excellent tool to start and share experiences with other companies”.
