Atresmedia Group supports the ‘Cruz Roja Responde’ initiative, a comprehensive plan launched by the Spanish Red Cross to serve more than 1,350,000 people in situation of vulnerability due to COVID-19, mobilizing more than 40,000 volunteers and deploying 1,400 service points. With this collaboration, Atresmedia wants to give visibility to this Spanish Red Cross project and mobilize society to raise 10,715,555 euros, essential to respond to the health, social, educational or employability needs of those groups more affected by the pandemic, and especially older people, people with health problems, people with disabilities, girls, boys and young people, homeless people, women in social difficulties, immigrants and refugees, and the general population.

For this purpose, Atresmedia, through all the Divisions and Areas of the Group, contributes to the dissemination of ‘Cruz Roja Responde’ with actions on all its television channels, radio stations, ATRESplayer platform, websites and social network profiles, showing once again its commitment and closeness to society. Everything with the aim of contributing to reach the estimated collection figure that will help to improve the well-being of the people most affected by Covid19 in the coming weeks and months. In addition, it will count with the participation of the presenters and collaborators of the Atresmedia Group to spread the message and will communicate the initiative to their employees so that they can also collaborate.

This Corporate Responsibility iniciative of Atresmedia Group in favor of the Red Cross began on April 1st 2020 and will continue until the end of the confinement decreed due to the coronavirus.

Measures to reduce the effects of COVID-19

With this Plan, the Red Cross will carry out the following actions in its different areas of action:

  • Emergency relief: Support to the health system with personal protective equipment, hygiene kits and medical supplies; coverage of basic needs of vulnerable people in confinement and isolation in exceptional circumstances; psychosocial assistance; mobilization of those affected with urgent medical transport; support for 112 centers, cooperation with health centers and logistical support; installation of temporary hospital infrastructures in collaboration with the health system; accommodation for special groups without confinement addresses.
  • Health: Dissemination of prevention and containment measures, promotion of social commitment and dissemination of videos and digital stories for children and young people, as well as adolescents, foster families and the elderly; follow-up calls to vulnerable people and biomedical telephone monitoring; accompaniment to health centers; biomedical monitoring and symptoms of homeless people.
  • Social inclusion: accommodation for people at risk; cleaning and laundry services; telephone social support to people in solitude; accompaniment for essential procedures; psychological assistance; distribution to vulnerable people without social or family support of essential goods; payment of supplies receipts.
  • Education: school support through virtual educational training support; COVID-19 training for volunteers and response personnel; free and open training for the general population on coronavirus and first aid, psychosocial support and home school activities; dissemination of activities and recreational / educational proposals for children and adolescents.
  • Employment: telematic and online job information for active job search; job orientation; information and telephone monitoring of job opportunities; practices and preparation of videoCV and videoconference interviews; tutoring on registration in job search websites and learning to manage social networks; online training actions in basic, transversal and digital skills; tips, video tutorials and explanatory videos on Public Employment Services in the current situation and the completion of procedures.
  • Environment: telematic and online support for people in a situation of energy poverty and the general population for the reduction of energy consumption; campaigns of good practices at home on water and electricity use, waste management, food purchases, etc.
  • International cooperation: support to the Red Cross and Red Crescent preparedness and response actions in awareness and communication for the prevention and containment of virus transmission; exchange of information and experience, protocols and actions with national societies.
  • Volunteering: mobilization of own volunteering; development of guidelines for help in safe conditions for those who decide to help other people; promotion of actions that can be carried out virtually from home; protection of the safety of volunteers and collaborators with information on prevention measures according to activities and responses.
