Transition plan and decarbonisation strategy

The Atresmedia Group has a deep decarbonisation strategy for its operations, which includes greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in the short term (2030) and long term (2050) across its three scopes. These targets are science-based and were validated by the SBTi initiative in 2023, meaning they are aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the Paris Agreement.

Atresmedia’s decarbonisation targets, publicly available on the SBTi initiative website, represent absolute greenhouse gas reductions for Scope 1 and 2 combined and for Scope 3, relative to the base year (2019).

In 2025, the Group achieved its greatest progress to date in meeting these targets, with a reduction of 80.9% in Scope 1+2 and 26.1% in Scope 3.

This was made possible through the implementation of measures structured around five decarbonisation levers:

  • Reduction in the use of fossil fuels
  • Improvement in energy efficiency
  • Use of renewable energy
  • Decarbonization of the supply chain
  • Implementation of nature-based solutions

The various actions carried out by the Group are detailed in its 2025 Non-Financial Information Statement and Sustainability Information Statement and include, among other measures, increased use of renewable energy, replacement of air-conditioning equipment with more efficient alternatives, promotion of sustainable mobility, and collaboration with suppliers to decarbonise the value chain.

Broadcasting climate-related content

In addition, with the aim of contributing to and facilitating society’s adaptation to climate change, Atresmedia uses its different channels to broadcast awareness-raising content on climate change and the urgent need to address its consequences, as well as content highlighting the value of nature. During 2025, the following initiatives stood out:

  • Onda Cero, through its sustainability initiative Luz Verde, has, since 2024, incorporated environmental protection as a cross-cutting theme throughout its programming, with the aim of giving visibility and importance to the need to fight climate change. In 2024, an Expert Committee was created for the initiative, made up of leading figures from the world of environmental conservation, and in 2025 the first edition of the Luz Verde Awards was held, recognising those individuals or institutions whose initiatives in 2024 contributed to improving sustainability, the natural environment and the fight against climate change.
  • Antena 3 Noticias has a dedicated Climate, Society and Culture section aimed at reinforcing its informative commitment to the future of the planet and society.
  • laSexta continued to broadcast specialist and informative content on climate change in programmes such as Al Rojo Vivo, El Objetivo, Zapeando, Más Vale Tarde, La Roca and El Intermedio, and continued to include the energy transition and sustainability as one of the key themes of its Metafuturo event.
  • Special coverage of climate and weather-related events, such as the anniversary of the DANA and the wildfires, storms and floods that affected the public.
