As a leading provider of news services and in its role as a communicator, the Atresmedia Group, through Antena 3 Noticias, laSexta Noticias, and the news programmes of Onda Cero, is strongly committed to rigour and accuracy. To this end, it has a series of robust mechanisms and tools that enable it to guarantee the reliability of its information, data, and images, and to provide the appropriate context for a proper understanding of its content. In 2025, Antena 3, laSexta, and Onda Cero continued to develop their news strategies to combat fake news and disinformation.

Antena 3 Noticias

“Antena 3 Noticias” maintains a firm strategy to combat fake news and disinformation based on its commitment to journalistic rigour and accuracy. The professionals in its newsroom and current affairs programmes work daily to counter hoaxes and disinformation by prioritising cross-checking and verification of information. This control work is carried out continuously using various verification tools that ensure rigour and accuracy.

The commitment to truthful, rigorous, and plural information is particularly reinforced in contexts of high demand for information, such as electoral processes, armed conflicts, or natural disasters.

In 2025, under the “Verifica A3N” brand, efforts to combat fake news were further intensified, including on social media. Through valuable, dynamic, and interactive content, the Group fosters critical thinking among younger audiences, helping them detect hoaxes, particularly on Instagram and TikTok, environments highly exposed to disinformation. This initiative complements the work carried out on the Antena 3 Noticias, Espejo Público, Antena 3 Internacional accounts, as well as the Verifica A3N profiles on Facebook and Twitter.

Regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence tools, Antena 3 News Services are committed to a responsible, ethical, and truthful use of AI, ensuring respect for intellectual property and content creators’ rights.

laSexta Noticias

In 2025, the laSexta Noticias newsroom continued to operate under the premise that all broadcast information must be verified and that a comprehensive context must be provided, without omitting relevant perspectives or sections. It strives to verify information, videos, and images, detect and debunk hoaxes, and guarantee the right to truthful, plural, independent, and responsible information.

Under this approach, laSexta has maintained its focus on detecting hoaxes and fake news. Through Newtral, a company specialising in content verification, laSexta relies on a team of journalists specialised in fact-checking who analyse and debunk hoaxes circulating on social media, apps, and traditional media.

In 2025, laSexta’s news programmes and other specialised current affairs shows such as Conspiranoicos, focused on providing accurate information and debunking hoaxes related to current topics spread on social media, have led laSexta’s strategy to combat fake news.

Additionally, laSexta carries out its activity with awareness of the risks and challenges that the use of Artificial Intelligence may pose in journalism and in the creation of hoaxes, while also recognising that, when used properly, these tools can facilitate communication. In this context, as stated in its code of ethics, laSexta Noticias is committed to using new Artificial Intelligence tools in an ethical, transparent, and responsible manner, ensuring that AI applications are used to improve the quality of information without replacing the human and journalistic element.

Onda Cero

The main strength of Onda Cero’s News Services lies in its professionals: a team that combines experience and seniority. They are precisely the ones who ensure that fake news and hoaxes do not make it on air. Onda Cero journalists work with highly reliable and credible sources, avoiding the noise and false information that spreads through social media.

The programme Julia en la onda broadcasts a weekly segment, Maldita hemeroteca / maldito bulo, a fact-checking section focused on the week’s current affairs that aims to correct misinformation in the media and/or on social media and to debunk hoaxes.

In addition, Onda Cero’s programmes and news bulletins have generated a large amount of content related to combating the spread of fake news and the risks posed by social media and screens in the development of children and adolescents.

Additionally, it should be noted that both Antena 3 Noticias and laSexta Noticias limit the broadcast of violent images to situations where it is necessary to illustrate the information, always under editorial criteria assessing whether such images add value to the story. Likewise, images that expose injustice or the cruelty of war are not withheld. In any case, whenever the broadcast of violent content is deemed necessary, viewers are warned in advance about the nature of the images.

Despite all the mechanisms in place to verify broadcast content, if it is detected that the Group has mistakenly disseminated false or incorrect information, it proceeds to correct and remove it as quickly as possible, minimising any potential negative impact on the audience, as explained above.
